Solution
Drawing on her experience in real estate and technology, Lora joined R-LABS as the Chief Operating Officer. She worked alongside the CEO to build R-LABS from the ground up and lead the following initiatives:
- Coalesced Partners & Sponsors: As a venture-building company, R-LABS needed strategic partners and sponsors to support the growth of venture companies. Lora met with prominent real estate organizations across Toronto and formed a collective of reputable leaders in innovation. Together, these partners and sponsors would aid the co-creation of R-LABS’ first two venture companies.
- Built an Innovation Community: Part of R-LABS mandate was to encourage organizations and entrepreneurs to pursue real estate innovation. To achieve this, Lora garnered support from several leading organizations, such as REALPAC, PwC and Ogders, and launched an online community. Lora managed all components of this initiative, including the creation of an online portal, in-person events and a wide range of digital communications.
- Grew the Company: As the COO, Lora was not only responsible for setting up the physical workspace, but also hiring teams for R-LABS and its ventures. Her organizational strategy involved filling essential roles with full-time personnel and procuring contractors to fulfill project-based needs. From there, she developed HR policies for all of the staff and defined processes for venture and partner relations.
